IT cost reduction

Stop paying for technology you don't use.

Most organisations overspend on IT without realising it — licences for people who left, tools that duplicate each other, contracts that quietly rolled over. We find the waste, cut it, and reinvest some of the savings in AI that keeps costs down for good.

Where the money goes

Technology spend rarely grows by design. A team signs up for a tool, a contract auto-renews, someone leaves and their licence doesn't, a server keeps running "just in case". Individually small; together, often a significant share of what you spend.

Our cost reduction work goes line by line through what you pay for and what you actually use:

  • Licences — Microsoft 365, Adobe, CRM, accounting and line-of-business software, matched to real usage
  • Subscriptions & tools — overlapping apps consolidated onto platforms you already own
  • Contracts — broadband, phone systems, mobiles, printing, support and hosting benchmarked before renewal
  • Cloud & infrastructure — idle servers, over-sized resources and forgotten environments
  • People time — manual processes that automation and AI can take off your team
  • Hidden costs — downtime, slow devices and security incidents that cost far more than prevention

Savings that last

One-off cuts creep back. We put simple controls in place — licence reviews for leavers, renewal calendars, an approved software list — so the savings stick. Then we look at where AI and automation can let you grow without adding cost.

What's included

Six places we find savings

Licence right-sizing

Every user on the licence they need — not the most expensive one. Leavers removed, monthly plans moved to annual where it pays.

Tool consolidation

Replace overlapping apps with what's already included in Microsoft 365 or your core platforms.

Contract & supplier review

Telecoms, broadband, print and support contracts benchmarked and renegotiated before they auto-renew.

Cloud right-sizing

Idle and over-provisioned resources switched off or scaled down; old servers retired.

Automation & AI

Hours of manual admin removed — the saving that compounds every single week.

Avoided costs

Downtime, incidents and emergency call-outs prevented with proactive support and security.

How it works

Simple, step by step

1

Gather

Invoices, contracts and admin-portal data — we do the digging, you just grant access.

2

Analyse

Spend matched to usage. Every line marked keep, cut, consolidate or renegotiate.

3

Report

Itemised savings, effort and payback — quick wins first.

4

Deliver

We make the changes with you, safely, and set up controls so savings stick.

The outcome

What changes for you

  • A clear, itemised list of savings — each with its payback
  • Lower monthly software, licence and contract costs
  • Fewer tools, simpler systems, less admin
  • Controls that stop waste creeping back
  • Budget freed up for AI and improvements that pay back further

Guaranteed: if the audit doesn't find at least £500 a year in savings, you get your money back. If your IT feels more expensive, complicated or manual than it should… it probably is.

The badger's promise

Savings found — or your money back.

If our IT systems & cost audit doesn't identify at least £500 of annual savings — in licences, subscriptions, contracts, cloud or hosting costs — we'll refund the audit fee in full. Savings are identified in your written report with the evidence behind each one; you don't have to act on them for the guarantee to apply. Available to organisations with 10 or more staff, one audit per organisation.

Go ahead with the recommended work and, once it's done, the audit fee is credited against your final invoice. No VAT to add — we're not VAT registered, so the price you see is the price you pay.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

How much could we save?

It depends on your size and how your technology has grown. Licences, duplicate tools and rolled-over contracts are the most common sources of savings, and manual admin is usually the largest hidden cost. The audit gives you an itemised figure — not a guess — before you commit to anything else.

Will cutting costs make our IT worse?

No — that's the point of doing it properly. We remove what you don't use and consolidate what overlaps. Where something is under-invested (security, backups), we'll say so, with the cost of the risk alongside.

Do you work with larger organisations?

Yes. For multi-site and larger estates we scope a tailored review across sites, suppliers and contracts. See larger organisations.

Do you earn commission from suppliers?

Our recommendations are vendor-neutral. If we ever recommend a product or supplier where we have a commercial relationship, we'll tell you up front.
